WHAT IS ANXIETY?
You know that feeling - the one where you just can’t relax, your thoughts are racing, and it’s exhausting? If you do, you’ve probably experienced anxiety. Anxiety is when you worry a lot about...well, everything! It can make sleeping and concentrating hard or it can make you jumpy and tense.
HOW CAN A COUNSELOR HELP?
Anxiety looks different for different people, and there are a lot of different ways to treat it. Will a counselor make it so that you never worry again? Nope. But we can help so that when you feel worried or have a big test coming up, you have some tools to calm your body down so that you’re able to handle whatever life throws at you.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
The first appointment will involve a lot of information-gathering and not a lot of doing therapy. Anxiety-reduction techniques can be used pretty early on in therapy though. So while you’re getting tools to help outside of session, we can use session time to process your anxiety.
