FAQS

HOW DO I SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT?

Call, email, or fill out the contact form. Please be sure to leave your name, phone number, and a few times that I can call you back for a free 15-minute consultation.

HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?

Sessions are 45-50 minutes and begin on the hour or half hour.

WHAT'S THE FIRST APPOINTMENT LIKE?

We’ll go over boring legal stuff, what to expect in therapy, and talk about what’s going on in your life that brought you into therapy.
We’ll discuss your history and goals for counseling, and I’ll answer any questions you may have.

WHEN CAN I SEE YOU?

I see clients Monday through Thursday. Contact me to find a time that works for you.

WHAT'S YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

Appointment changes or cancellations need to be made more than 24 hours in advance of your appointment.

Your appointment time is reserved especially for you, so any changes within 24 hours will be charged the full appointment fee.

DO YOU TAKE MY INSURANCE?

I am an out-of-network provider with insurance companies, which means you may seek reimbursement from your insurance company according to your benefits.

If you plan to file for out-of-network reimbursement, please let me know. We will discuss diagnosis code(s), and I can send you a superbill for your insurance company to evaluate your claim. It will come from Compassion Cove Counseling, with my name listed as the therapist providing services.

ARE THERE BENEFITS OF NOT USING INSURANCE?

Yes! When you see a provider who accepts insurance for counseling, the insurance company is privy to your entire mental health file and diagnosis. Insurance companies also limit how many sessions you may get and what types of therapy you may receive.

If you choose to go through an out-of-network provider like me, you’re not beholden to the insurance company. That means that your therapist is able to develop a treatment plan that is best for you, see you for as long or as short as necessary, and are able to keep your records confidential.

YOU SAY YOU'RE FAITH-BASED. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

It simply means that I offer counseling with a Christian lens for those who want that. Unless you specifically ask me for Christian counseling, you will never know that I am faith-based. I will honor your spiritual preferences or lack thereof.

HOW MUCH DO SESSIONS COST?

$150 per 45-50 minute session.

HOW LONG WILL I NEED COUNSELING FOR?

My recommendations for duration of treatment and session frequency are determined by a reduction in your distress/symptoms and treatment plan progress which will be continually assessed over the course of our work together.

HOW OFTEN WILL MY SESSIONS BE?

I typically begin with weekly sessions and re-evaluate on a regular basis based on your needs and current status. Some clients opt to continue weekly sessions long-term while others move to every other week, once a month, or as-needed check-ins.
